Benjamin Johnsen was born in Omaha, Nebraska. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2005 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In 2009, he graduated from the University of New Mexico as a Master of Fine Arts. After several years as an Adjunct Instructor and receiving Adjunct Instructor of the Year, he was hired as a Visiting Lecturer III at the University of New Mexico-Valencia. There, he also served as the Fine Arts area coordinator and Gallery Director. As a trailing spouse to his wife Teresa, he resigned that post to join her in Las Vegas, Nevada where he found work as a part time Art Handler and Adjunct Instructor at the College of Southern Nevada. While teaching, his side job of art handling become a full time position shortly after the local company was acquired by Crozier Fine Arts where he currently works as Inventory Supervisor of the Las Vegas warehouse
